LA FORTUNA has become popular year round and offers a variety of excellent dining choices in town as well as nighttime entertainment venues and many shops of all kinds, making it a fun place to walk up and down the main road and some side streets near the Central Park. You can also find various reasonably priced accommodations right in town with the prices rising as you head out of town and toward the lake area where you can find multiple 5 star resorts. Throughout the main downtown area of La Fortuna you will also find many tour offerings and also rentals of all types of recreational vehicles such as ATVs. The top two attractions in the area are the Volcano and its hot springs (although the lava eruptions ceased in 2010) and the Lake. Two major attractions, one nature-made and the other mostly man-made. The Arenal Volcano National Park is full of trails to explore and lots of wildlife can be found and it is a tremendously attractive location for Bird Watchers. Also if you enjoy waterfalls then a hike to visit to the 70+ meter Catarata Rio Fortuna is highly recommended.
