The weather in Tilaran is great because this town lies over 500 meters above sea level, and the temperatures here are always cool and comfortable. With high winds blowing across town from November to April, Tilaran is a great area for some world class windsurfing in Arenal Lake. Tilaranenses are always proud to have their houses sparkling clean. Parcelas Monse ń or, up in the hills, four kilometers from downtown Tilaran, has a yearly program for young students from the United States to come and stay in the salon comunal (Community Center) to acclimate themselves to the Costa Rican ´ s form of living. They also help in improving the community. They work for 3 to 4 days, painting, cleaning, planting trees, improving the soccer field and on their days off, their reward is going to different tourism locations and enjoying the Pura Vida along with other students, these include the many beautiful beaches and plenty of hiking adventures with panoramic views.
ARENAL LAKE
The city has many hotels and the people are always willing to help foreigners. Accommodations here are ideal for those traveling on a budget, and there are plenty of activities to engage in when you are here. Often referred to as one of the country ’ s undiscovered gems, Tilaran is a great place for individuals and families to have a nice and tranquil vacation. The center of town is where most of the hotels, restaurants, and lodging options are located, one of them is the Hotel El Sue ñ o, a very nice place with loads of courtesy and hospitality just
waiting for you. The park is only a block away and nearby is the largest church in Guanacaste, the Cathedral Church. Come share and enjoy the Pura Vida of the Tilaranenses. A nice time to be in Tilaran is around April for the Fiesta de Dias Civicos, a popular country fair with rodeos and a livestock show. To get to Tilaran, you can either drive in from San Jose City over 3 hours away, or fly into the Liberia International Airport and then take a short drive to Tilaran.
