Top 10 Reasons To Move to Costa Rica Costa Rica offers many reasons to be considered as an ideal place to visit but also as a place to move to and live at. If we consider all the ongoing changes in North America which are generally not for the best, then alternative countries to live in become a viable option, as long as you are not tied down by a job that requires you to be present. Thus Retirees, financially independent individuals or persons who are able to work remotely or to start or join an existing business, become the ideal candidates for this type of relocation to a new safe haven. 1.) Costa Ricans, or Ticos as they are also called, are generally happy people. In fact, they have been regarded as the happiest people in Latin America and ranked very high in the world as well. Generally, Ticos are helpful, friendly, good-looking, agreeable and fun to be around. This is probably a result of living in a real direct Democracy with no Army and with an overall relaxed lifestyle in a beautiful country with nice weather and for most of the population, low levels of crime. 2.) The available level of healthcare, both medical and dental, is excellent and comparable to that offered in North America but priced much lower, making it attractive for medical tourism as well as for those who choose to live here. The local national healthcare plan offered by the government is called the CAJA and offers excellent quality, but it can be slow in getting appointments with specialists. However, several world class private hospitals offer reasonably priced healthcare, and the cost of private insurance is much lower here while maintaining a high quality. 3.) Leisure time opportunities abound in Costa Rica and in all price ranges. With so many beautiful places in each coast and everywhere in between there is so much to choose from. You can get a 4x4 type vehicle and equip it to go camping at many places or you can just take a bus or a shuttle and find reasonably priced accommodations, especially if you travel in the off season and avoid local holidays. Since you would not be tied to a 9 to 5 schedule this gives you the opportunity to get to know the country at a very low cost. Even a one-day escape to a local waterfall and/or river with your own packed picnic lunch can be a great adventure and a totally enjoyable and refreshing experience for a very low cost.
