CUP was in 2014 in Brazil, when the National Team finished in the 8th position and actually finished undefeated in regulation time as it only lost to Holland in the penalty shoot-out after a tie during the 120 minutes of playing (90 min. regulation time plus 30 minutes of overtime). The team had been seeded in a group that was known as the Group of Death due to having 3 former World Cup Champions (Italy, England and Uruguay) and poor little Costa Rica was thought to be the first to be eliminated. Instead the Costa Rican team shocked everyone and finished first and undefeated! From this 2014 World Cup emerged several world class players with the most famous being Keylor Navas, the goalkeeper, who would go on to win 3 UEFA Champions League Titles in a row, playing for powerhouse REAL MADRID.
