The Caribbean Coast discovered by Columbus in 1502, extending some 200 kilometers from border to border, encompasses the beaches from the border with Nicaragua to the border with Panama. In between you can find some of Costa Rica ´ s most beautiful beaches and some of the most spectacular nature reserves and wildlife including in the North the area of Tortuguero, an area popular with marine turtles which has a town, a national park and the extensive canals in the Barra del Colorado which has a town, an airport and a wildlife refuge. This is an area that is also very popular with sport fishermen due to an abundance of tarpon and snook. The North Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica is part of the province of Lim ó n, a beautiful remote area with dense vegetation, meandering rivers, glorious lagoons and home to some of the most exotic wildlife and flora in the country.
