J aco Beach is located just over an hour away when you take High- way 27 from San José. Excellent roads and a variety of scenery along the way, along with being the nearest major beach town to the capital city, make this an extremely popular getaway for both Costa Ricans and visiting foreigners from North America and from Europe. After the 2008 crisis Jaco faded some- what but in the last couple of years it has rebounded with great strength and this of course makes it an ideal place to vacation in as well as to invest in by purchasing a vacation rental or a win- ter getaway home as well as being a great retirement spot due to the many available attractions, both in Playa Jacó as well as in the nearby towns such as Playa Hermosa, Esterillos and Herra- dura. Vista Los Sueños can offer a variety of adventure tours, ATV rides, rappel and waterfall visits. Surfing is another ma- jor attraction here with many shops for rentals and purchases as well as les- sons and several excellent beaches to choose from. When nighttime comes you can find a very extensive list of restaurants to choose from including Mono Verde right on the main drag which is one of our favorites for good food and people watching. Walking up and down the main street (which is only 2 blocks from the beach) you will be delighted by the variety of shops you can find from one end to the other.
